Writing Numbers with Cars

Number Recognition

 

What You Need:

• 9 sheets of foam printed with numerals 1 to 9*

• Play cars

 

What You Do:

1. Print the number and place in a plastic slip cover.

2. Let your child tell you what number it is and select that number of play cars.

3. Let your child drive each car along the number and then “park” the car at the bottom of the number. Model this step by showing your child where to start from.

 

Variations:

•  For straight numbers (1, 4, 7, 10), use painter's tape to create the number on the floor. Draw with chalk on the sidewalk.

• This activity can also be used for writing letters.
